After watching the best FGC players battle it out at EVO 2022, we still have more action coming up very soon. The Super Smash Con 2022 tournament is about to kick off and we can’t be more excited about it. This is going to be one of the most important tournaments in the Smash World Tour. The event is featuring an Ultimate tournament. That’s alongside events for Melee, and every other game that’s released in the Smash Bros universe, including a Brawl competition.
The Super Smash Con 2022 tournament kicks off on August 11, running through to August 14. The event is going to have a prize pool of $23,800 for Ultimate. Most 2022 major winners are attending. Super Smash Con has over 2,000 players attending over the course of the Ultimate event. However, there are some players that definitely stand out on the roster. Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez Perez
We have to start this list with the best Ultimate player of all time. MkLeo is an obvious player to watch at just about any Smash event that he attends. He’s one of the top players in the game and it has been a good year for MKLeo. MKLeo has already won Smash Factor 9, COLOSSAL, Relax and Smash, GENESIS 8, and came second at Pound 2022. He’s been killing it this year. While players can complain about the balance of the game, MKLeo’s continued dominance makes it feel like a non-issue.
Michael “Riddles” Kim
Riddles is primarily a Terry and Kazuya Main who has been on the rise in Ultimate. He’s placed higher and higher in 2022. This hit a boiling point when he took 4th place at Pound, only just losing out to MKLeo and cementing his spot in the current top players for Ultimate. He’s since placed well at the Gimvitational, CEO 2022, and Get on My Level. Heading into Super Smash Con 2022, Riddles is a clear player to watch out for.
William “Gluttony” Belaïd
Glutonny is another Super Smash Bros player who looks almost certain to make it through to the final stages of this tournament. He’s taken a few majors this year, like Pound 2022 as well as coming 2nd at GENESIS. His more recent results have been tighter. Especially some like losing out to Sonix at Smash Factor. However, Gluttony is a big player to watch at Smash Con 2022.
Carlos “Sonix” Pérez
Sonix is a Sonic player who shocked a lot of fans by winning one of the first events in the Panda Cup. Sonic is an unusual pick, but he’s probably the best Sonic player in the world. His recent results have been fantastic, showing he wasn’t a one-hit-wonder. Sonix could continue to reinvent what players expect from different charactersIt’s hard to know who is going to come out on top, but watching any of the previous players will ensure an exciting experience.
