It is not a mystery that Riot Games is working on a new fighting game and as time passes, more updates are being revealed on Project L. In the gameplay video, champions like Ekko, Ahri, and Darius can be seen fighting each other. Darius LoL abilities have been transferred to the new fighting game, just like other champions. Moreover, the game has changed from a one-on-one fighter to a two-on-two tag-based. It will include different modes. This will add more depth to the gameplay of the new title.

“We want to create a game where you can have fun right away, while also rewarding for the time you spend mastering it. Our dream is making sure our champions have fast, powerful abilities, look really sick while doing them, and are even more powerful when paired with flexible systems.” said Shaun Rivera, Game Director and Gameplay Design Lead for Project L.

Information about the game was already given a while ago before. First we heard of Project L was months ago. It is not a mystery that the company is working on the project.

“Our initial reveal back in 2019 showed a potential direction that we could take the game. But Project L is in R&D: the phase of game development where we’re exploring options and finding the fun. Today, our explorations have borne fruit, and we’ve landed in a spot that we’re all pretty excited about! So now felt like a great moment to bring you up to speed, especially with all the Undercity Nights festivities happening across Riot.” Tom Cannon, Senior Director and Executive Producer for Project L had said on November 20.

Now with the new information, it is possible to say that the team is moving fast and steadily. Updates were sparse but the last big update was the 10th Anniversary.

The most awaited fighting game

Project L is one of the most awaited fighting games among the fan community as it will breathe new life into the industry. The LoL esports scene is quite big and the new title will surely benefit from it as it will be using the basics of LoL. Some of the best LoL players like Faker love playing mini-games when in the queue for a new game in LoL and Project L looks like a great fit for those.

The next update will probably be in the first quarter of 2023 and the team will continue working on the new title until then. Riot Games published different games with different genres but this will be their first-ever fighting game and the hype is getting bigger and bigger every day!
