The LEC is known for one thing and one thing only, their fighting spirit to defy any and all expectations or predictions in the biggest stage of League of Legends. Fnatic followed this principle on the second day of the group stage at the 2022 League of Legends World Championship, showing incredible synergy against one of the favorites to win the coveted Summoners’ Cup, T1.
Fnatic have pushed to the first place of group A with a dominant victory over Korean representative T1, marking yet another instance where an EU team gives trouble for T1 at Worlds. From start to finish, T1 were not able to match Fnatic’s early push focused composition.
Fnatic’s dynamic bot lane duo, Upset and Hyllisang, instantly locked Lucian and Nami after T1’s Aphelios pick, despite the famous duo receiving nerfs recently. After these nerfs, the Fnatic bot lane have refrained from picking these two champions as much as they used to, however this time around it was a confident immediate pick.
A level 3 misstep from T1’s jungler Oner, gave an early kill to Upset’s Lucian, nevertheless that alone is not going to be enough to stop one of the best bot lanes in history, Gumayusi and Keria. Fnatic decided to continue hitting the bot lane, as soon as Gumayusi missed crucial abilities, the bot lane trio immediately pushed for a dive further expanding their lead.

The huge gold lead that Upset grabbed over his lane opponent made it almost impossible for the T1 duo to even try and lane. With Razork at the front line stopping possible engagements with his Poppy, Upset was free to destroy the enemies health bars with ease, even using his Galeforce active to dive into the enemy backline.
Upset and Hyllisang walked away from this dominant victory with a combined 8/3/25 KDA, and the confidence of winning against one of the favorites to win it all.
After this victory for Fnatic, each LEC representative at this year’s Worlds have shown the ability to punch upwards against every single enemy they face.
Razork, who is making his first appearance at Worlds this year, proved to be one of the key factors for their win. Even though the damage was certainly dealt by upset, it was Razork that provided all the zoning and engaging prowess for his star bot laner to go in without a worry in the world.
Currently at the top of Group A in the World Championship, Fnatic have yet to play against the current reigning world champions, and comeback kings Edward Gaming. They’ll have the chance to do so on day 3 of the competition to hopefully end the first weekend of the Worlds 2022 main group stage event 3-0, giving fans hope for the European region.
