Want to wreak havoc on mobile? Just Cause fans will have to wait even longer as the official Twitter account has revealed that the anticipated mobile version of the franchise is being delayed even more.
First announced in 2020, Just Cause Mobile isn’t being developed by the original devs of the franchise, Avalanche Studios. Instead, a separate team at Square Enix is developing the mobile version.
Delay after delay plague production
Just Cause Mobile was announced in December 2020 with Square Enix saying that the game is coming in 2021. Fans expected beta tests to begin shortly after, however, Square Enix didn’t announce anything.
In July 2021, however, the Twitter account released a statement saying that the game was delayed and would instead be released in 2022. Square Enix blamed this “tough decision” on the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally, in April 2022, the game entered regional early access in Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore. While the game looked decent, it was certainly far from finished with only some of the features and modes initially promised being present.
With December about to end, Square Enix released another statement yesterday, saying that the game has been further delayed. The two-line message doesn’t reveal the reason for the same.

Additionally, the message doesn’t reveal when players can expect the game to come out – not even saying 2023. Will the game be released next year then? Just Cause fans will have to wait and find out.
Just Cause Mobile seems like a great game – on paper
Despite the delay, Just Cause Mobile seems like a great game. The action shooter will have a 30-person competitive multiplayer mode.
Additionally, the core Just Cause campaign experience is also being conserved by Square Enix with 4-player co-op missions. It will be free-to-play with microtransactions (of course) and will also have all the features which fans of the franchise love like the parachute, wingsuit, and grapple.
While the delay is extremely sad news, it’s better for players that Square Enix releases a finished version of the game with no bugs. If all the features are present, it will certainly be worth the wait for fans.
