The LEC continues to impress with wins in the playins stage of the 2022 League of Legends World Championship with now a second victory for their fourth seed, MAD Lions.
However it was definitely a dodgy performance to say the least, MAD successfully sustained the pressure of the Istanbul Wildcats and achieved their second win of the playins groups. As the only team to play 2 games in the day, MAD Lions sit at the top of their table and will continue to look for qualification into the coveted group stage.
Even though IW debuted with a loss, their map pressure provided them a lot of chances for plays through objective rushing, with their mid laner Serin huge damage on team fights as Azir. Finishing with a 8/4/12 KDA, IW’s carries kept the game close enough to fight for the win, definitely showing the team is able to fight any team in playins.
MAD’s support Kaiser started to heavily roam out of the bot lane. Rather early, Kaiser was roaming to the top side of the map to help his top laner, and managed to secure himself a first blood.

As soon as Kaiser secured a top lane lead, he ran towards mid to assist Nisqy, who used an early assist to keep a gold lead the entire game over his opponent. This left UNF0RGIVEN alone in the bot lane, where IW’s jungler Ferret continuously looked to kill him.
This ultimately gave a large amount of gold into the hands of the MAD mid laner, who took waves of minions and turret plates for himself and eventually became the most important part of MAD’s late game pressure.
IW’s support main Farfetch attempted to force plays with Leona’s hard engage ability, but continued to miss ultimates that could set up important team fights for his team, all while Nisqy’s Sylas robbed his ultimate and constantly threw it back at him.
Thanks to the early roams from Kaiser and the pressure then created by Nisqy, all members of MAD Lions slowly managed to create their own lead. Even with this lead, MAD could not find the opening needed to finish the game out right.
Similar to their first game against Isurus, MAD struggled a lot to close out a game in which they had gathered a huge lead.
Not only did MAD Lions’ overconfidence earn IW a couple of dragons but it even granted them a Baron buff that had greatly diminished the gold gap between them and their opponents. Only through clearing vision and a pickup from Nisqy were MAD Lions able to stop the bleeding and a possible comeback from IW, which then lead bot laner UNF0RGIVEN to take a quadra kill and a total 14/1/1 Kill to Death Ratio to finish out the game for MAD Lions.
IW can certainly upset any team as we saw on this match, however MAD Lions will need to look better while closing their games going forward. Make sure to check out our League of Legends betting page where you can find the best deals and sign up offers.
