Rogue started the second day of the 2022 League of Legends World Championship group stage with a dominant victory against LCK’s DRX. In their first international stage match as official LEC champions, Rogue highlighted their best performance against Korea’s fourth seed.
Rogue’s mental strength and patience were key to pilot their heavy scaling composition, leading to a dominant victory for them. The first 15 minutes of the game were filled with small fights for neutral objectives, mostly started by DRX jungler Juhan who needed to create early advantages due to his Lee sin pick. Even after heavily engaging looking for an early lead, the two teams remained even in gold and pressure, with Rogue leading in kills while DRX had multiple members ahead in raw CS.
Rogue started breaking the map bit by bit starting with the bot lane turret, thus opening the side where Drake fights would start soon. With power over the dragon area, Rogue looked to obtain their second drake kill of the game, DRX did try to contest it however where unsuccessful. Rogue’s patience and synergy in team fights allowed them to bait DRX’s members one by one until clearing the area of any threats.

After that, DRX had to match Rogue’s lead to try and get back into the game, needing to somehow find the resources throughout the map while behind. But in what could have been a huge moment for DRX, it was Rogue who came up clutch again, thanks to an incredible mechanical play by their top laner Odoamne. The leads in kills, gold, and neutral objectives secured by Rogue were simply too much, making it nearly impossible for DRX to fight for the second Baron of the game, which was of course secured by the LEC Champions.
With the Baron buffon their side, the team started to slowly but surely break DRX’s defense. Rogue’s constant pressure onto their opponents base was suffocating, and when the LCK team barely walked into their jungle blindly to fight the soul point for Rogue, the European team pounced over. During the last teamfight of the game Rogue quickly aced their opponents collecting their first point in the League of Legends 2022 World Championship.
With their first win against DRX, Rogue kept their ways by always winning their first match on the World Championship stage, with a 2020 victory against PSG Talon and a win against Cloud 9 in 2021. This first match of Group C was also the first time DRX and Rogue faced each other, but certainly won’t be the last this year. Before their rematch, DRX will have the chance to achieve their first win on day 3 of Worlds when they battle against Top Esports, while Rogue can search for their second win against GAM Esports.
