Kai Cenat is the latest content creator to partner with the Battle Royale Fortnite. Following in the footsteps of others like Mr Beast, the Streamer has hosted his own officially partnered tournament, the Fortnite Mafia Showdown.
Over the course of a single day, he revealed that something was in the works, unveiled the Fortnite Mafia Showdown in full, and the event went ahead! The tournament had some unexpected outcomes for the thousands of viewers too.
Fortnite Mafia Showdown
The Fortnite Mafia Showdown saw some of the biggest names in Fortnite and on Twitch in general compete. There was Myth, Tfue, CouRage among others. Even some names better known outside of gaming like Cheetah. However, it was AMP Duke and Fanum who eventually took the lion’s share of the $200,000 prize pool.
They ended up finishing the game with 56 points, just enough to put them above Somerset and Myth. Most teams finished pretty closely though, even True and Cheetah in fourth place were less than ten points behind the winners.
This is a bit of an upset. Most probably expected one of the names more associated with high level Fortnite to win the Mafia Showdown. It was the AMP Duo who ended up taking first place though.
Kai Cenat and Fortnite to host more events?
Kai Cenat is a streamer who has risen to the top of Twitch in recent months, being one of the most subbed-to content creators on the platform last year and picking up Streamer of the year at the Streamy awards. These recent wins have catapulted him to the top of the industry. He’s now looking like a real contender for one of the top overall streamers, competing with the best Fortnite streamers.
Kai Cenat is definitely a streamer on the rise, but isn’t the most associated with Fortnite. Although he does stream it from time to time, and will likely do more in light of this collaboration. At the moment, it doesn’t look like he’s joining the Fortnite Icon Series. That’s where Fortnite puts real life content creators inside the game itself as purchasable skins.
Although, the Fortnite Mafia Showdown was plenty interesting by itself. Kai also said during the broadcast of his tournament that he’d be excited to host more. As this has been a pretty big success, maybe we can expect to see another tournament and more collaborations with the streamer.
Fortnite’s currently in its Fourth Chapter which has seen a huge crossover from MrBeast. He became the latest content creators to recieve their own skin the Battle Royale, along with hosting his own tournament that features a $1 Million prize pool. The Fortnite Mafia Showdown isn’t quite as big as this crossover, but it was still a great event.
