Fnatic and Furia look to bolster their VALORANT squads for 2023

Fnatic is set to bring ex Guild Esports player Leo Jannesson and ex Masters Berlin champion Timofey “Chronicle” Khromov to finish its VALORANT lineup, reported first by Alejandro Gomis.

Chronicle was previously on the Gambit Esports squad that pushed their way through Masters Berlin and also achieved second place at the next VALORANT Champions tournament. Due to this year’s conflicts between Russia and Ukraine, Gambit Esports decided to take a step down and the team rebranded into M3C. With no official sponsor from an organization, the squad ultimately split up and now the former roster are joining different EMEA partnered teams.

Leo is a breaking youngster that got his chance after playing with Guild Esports back in the 2021 season. While he doesn’t have as much experience as other Fnatic members, his performance at Masters Copenhagen earlier this year was more than enough to earn him a spot in a partnered team.

After an underwhelming performance at VALORANT Champions Istanbul, Fnatic placed James “Mistic” Orfila and Enzo Mestari to the bench and allowed both players to explore options with other teams in the offseason. Fnatic also secured Jake “Boaster” Howlett and Nikita “Derke” Sirmitev by extending their contracts until 2025 and 2026. With two empty slots left on the team, Fnatic still has to do some heavy scouting in order to find the right fit for the squad.

The reported moves to bring in Chronicle and Leo have not been confirmed by Fnatic, however it is expected to come out in the next couple of days.

Going into our second reported roster move, FURIA, one of the Brazilian based organizations that grabbed a place in the 2023 Americas VALORANT league, is set to sign Leonardo “mwzera” Serrati from Vivo Keyd, according to a previous report by The Enemy.

Mwzera has already attended FURIA’s gaming facilities in the last couple of days and has met his potential future squad, according to The Enemy. FURIA and Vivo Keyd are in advanced talks, which suggests the move may be sealed really soon.

The negotiations have been going on for a couple of weeks at this point, because Vivo Keyd didn’t want to lose mwzera in this offseason, who is technically their best asset in the current roster. FURIA has reportedly been making several offers for mwzera’s after deciding to send Argentinian Agustin “Nozwerr” Ibarra to Leviatán.

If the deal is ultimately sealed, mwzera would play beside Gabriel “qck” Lima, Khalil “Khalil” Schmidt, Matheus “mazin” Araújo, and Douglas “dgzin” Silva in this exciting FURIA roster.

All partnered teams are required to submit their official squads with at least three players by October 15th, the deadline set by Riot Games. FURIA will play in the Americas league in 2023 and debut in VCT 2023 at the starting event in São Paulo, Brazil which will include all partnered teams.
