Team Liquid is trying to sign a competitive roster ahead of LCS 2023 as the organization is looking to sign the Worlds 2022 Champion Pyosik, according to a report. Pyosik won the trophy with DRX but at the end of the season all the players began looking for other options and the South Korean jungler is one of them.
Team Liquid making moves
The North American esports team, Team Liquid, made huge signings before the 2022 season, signing some of the best LoL players in the region. Bwipo, Santorin, Bjergsen, Hans sama, and CoreJJ came together to win the title but they were unable to meet the expectations. Liquid decided to let everyone go, except CoreJJ, and build a new lineup for the upcoming season. It is rumored that the organization is looking to sign five Korean-speaking players as even though CoreJJ has a Greencard, he is actually a South Korean player.
According to a report by Blix.gg, Team Liquid is looking to fill the empty spot after Santorin’s departure with Pyosik. The South Korean player left DRX after winning the Worlds 2022 title and he is looking to find himself a new home overseas. He proved that he is one of the best LoL junglers in the world with his performance last season. Despite ups and downs throughout the last split, he still won the most important trophy of the year and his mechanics looked solid.
Who is Pyosik?
Pyosik’s professional career began back in 2019. Interestingly, he was an OTP Kindred player in the Korean solo queue. He first played for the academy team of DRX. He played with Doran, Chovy, Deft, and Keria and reached the LCK 2020 Summer Playoffs. He did not leave the team until the end of the 2022 season. DRX had a decent run at LCK 2020 Summer split and ended one of the best miracle runs of the LoL esports ecosystem at Worlds 2022, winning the trophy. Pyosik was an important part of the roster. Some rumors stated that DRX platers wanted to stay together but a drama broke out a while ago and the organization even made an announcement about it. The LPL mid laner, Doinb, stated in one of his streams that DRX wanted to sign Kanavi for jungler position but only Zeka knew about it. DRX denied the accusations but in the end, the roster decided to continue their careers elsewhere.
The latest World Champions, DRX players are leaving the organization one by one. First, top laner Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon and mid laner Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo joined Hanwha Life Esports. Then, the veteran ADC, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu signed with DWG KIA. DRX parted ways with all the players and the only ones that are still looking for a new home are Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon and Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee. Pyosik is expected to join Team Liquid and according to other rumors, BeryL will fly overseas to join a Chinese esports organization.
North American teams are looking to spend big for the upcoming season. According to different rumors, there is surely more than one favorite for the 2023 title. Team Liquid’s roster is expected to be completed with Summit, Pyosik, Haeri, and Yeon. CoreJJ will remain with the organization. If Team Liquid announces the roster, Summit and Pyosik will be the imports. However, Haeri, Yeon, and CoreJJ can fluently speak Korean even though they are United States citizens.
