The best LCK players in League of Legends Worlds 2022 – Part 1

The LCK has been for many years an incredibly secured contender for World’s titles, however the last couple of years its domestic league  has been in a downward spiral. With only 2 maximum 3 competitive teams in the league itself, it is relatively hard to improve and come ready to the biggest stage in League of Legends esports.

Nevertheless, those 2 or 3 teams are filled entirely with top tier talent that can absolutely fight and win Worlds. In the following series we are going to take a look at the best players coming from the LCK region into Worlds 2022. A lot of incredible talent will be presented in this list from multiple lanes, so let’s start with part 1!

Faker

Of course we need to start strong with the G.O.A.T of League of Legends esports. Faker might not play with a mechanical focus as he used to a couple of years ago, but the greatest League of Legends player of all time still brings leadership, experience, and most importantly guidance. T1’s key player still has a massive champion pool, bringing out 15 total different champion picks through the LCK’s regular season.

The experienced superstar achieved the most assists in the mid lane role during this last split, usually playing playmaking champions like Galio, Lissandra, and Seraphine to help the T1 youngsters shine in the Rift. His experience and maturity will be absolutely needed in T1’s push for the next World’s title, especially after showcasing that he can still lane against the likes of Chovy.

The best mid laner of all time will have to show all the tricks and plays mastered across the years, and hopefully bring one more title to Korea.

Doran

Next we have some contrast from the above, as Doran is a rather quiet player in the Rift, however he knows his role within juggernaut Gen.G and performs it to perfection.

If we’re analyzing Doran’s overall performance throughout the split, he probably doesn’t stand out at all compared to other top laners, especially knowing he is part of the Gen.G superteam with top tier talent such as Chovy and Ruler. Nevertheless, Doran has accomplished his role extremely well… being Gen.G’s safe lane and pressure sink.

Whether he’s playing Aatrox, Ornn, or other self sustaining champions, Doran has the ability to make an impact and not fall behind. He has the highest KDA from all other top lanes in the LCK, with the lowest average deaths per game, as well as the highest CS per minute for his lane. In other words, he is the model for the weak side top laner.

His greatest advantage, though, might also be his biggest downside. It’s rather difficult for a weak side player to be equally effective when going against the best in the world, so there is a small chance a snowball focus top laner might run with the game due to Doran.
